Who it is for

Buyers who want a higher-end Mini LED panel with local dimming and a 120Hz game mode at 55 inches.

Who should skip it

Anyone who wants Google TV, because this model is listed with Fire TV.

The Xiaomi FX 55 inch 4K QD-Mini LED Fire TV (L55MC-FSMIN) is listed on Amazon.in with these headline details: Screen size: 55 inch (139 cm); Resolution: 4K; Panel: QD-Mini LED with full array local dimming; HDR: HDR10+.

Full array local dimming on a Mini LED backlight is the headline feature here. It lets the TV dim zones behind the screen independently, which on paper helps dark scenes and contrast. The 120Hz game booster suggests the set is aimed at console players as well as movie watchers.

Best suited to: Buyers who want a higher-end Mini LED panel with local dimming and a 120Hz game mode at 55 inches. Less suitable for: Anyone who wants Google TV, because this model is listed with Fire TV.

Points in its favour on paper: QD-Mini LED panel with full array local dimming is listed; HDR10+ is listed; 120Hz Game Booster is listed. Points to weigh: Runs Fire TV rather than Google TV, so check that every app you use is available; Dolby Vision is not listed; Mini LED sets usually cost more than standard LED, so compare current price.

Full listed spec sheet: Screen size: 55 inch (139 cm); Resolution: 4K; Panel: QD-Mini LED with full array local dimming; HDR: HDR10+; Gaming: 120Hz DLG Game Booster (listed); Platform: Fire TV; Model: L55MC-FSMIN.

Confirm the HDMI port types (HDMI 2.1 matters for 4K at 120Hz on consoles), peak brightness and the number of dimming zones on Xiaomi’s page, and make sure your streaming services have Fire TV apps. Also check the warranty period and service coverage in your city.

Check delivery, installation and demo arrangements, and look at current offers across more than one seller before you decide.

Editor's verdict

The most feature-rich 55-inch on paper in this guide, thanks to its Mini LED panel, local dimming and 120Hz game mode. The trade-offs are Fire TV and a probably higher price, so it ranks first for picture-focused buyers and gamers.
