This policy explains what personal data DealCompass collects when you use dealcompass.in, why we collect it, who sees it, how long we keep it and what choices you have. DealCompass (“we”, “us”) is an independent buying-guide website based in India. We are the data fiduciary (the party that decides how your data is used) for the data described here.

India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Rules made under it are being brought into force in stages, with the main obligations applying from May 2027. We follow the Act’s principles now, and we will update this policy as each part comes into effect.

What we do not collect. DealCompass has no user accounts, no comments, no newsletter, no payment system and no checkout. We do not ask for your phone number, address, date of birth, government ID, financial details or any sensitive personal data. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell or rent personal data.

2. How we use your data

  • To reply to your messages and to handle your requests about your data.
  • To measure, with your permission, which pages are useful and to improve our guides.
  • To keep the site working, secure and free of spam.
  • To meet legal obligations and to protect our legal rights.

We do not use your data for automated decisions about you, and we do not use it to send you marketing. We will not email you unless you have written to us first, and then only to respond to you.

3. Our basis for using your data

  • Your consent for analytics. You can decline, and you can withdraw consent at any time. The site works the same either way.
  • Your own request for messages you send us. You give us the data for a stated purpose, which is to get a reply.
  • Legitimate uses and legal duties for security logs and to comply with the law.

4. Amazon and other websites

When you click a link to Amazon.in, you leave our site. Amazon and its sellers handle your data under their own privacy notices, and we do not control that. Amazon may place cookies on your device so it can tell that you came from our link. We do not receive your Amazon account, address, order or payment details. See our affiliate disclosure.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with providers that help us run the site, and only for that purpose:

  • Hostinger, our website hosting provider, which holds the website and its server logs.
  • Google, which provides Google Analytics (if you accept) and Search Console, and Gmail, which receives the messages sent to us.

We may disclose data if the law, a court or a government authority requires it, or to protect our legal rights. We do not sell or rent personal data.

6. Storage outside India

Google and our hosting provider may store or process data on servers outside India. We choose providers that publish their own privacy and security commitments, and we use them only for the purposes above.

7. How long we keep data

8. Your rights

Under Indian law you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data of yours we hold and how we use it;
  • correct, complete or update data that is wrong or out of date;
  • erase your data, unless we need to keep it for a legal reason;
  • deal with a complaint about how we handle your data;
  • act for you through a person you nominate, if you die or cannot act for yourself.

You can also withdraw your consent to analytics at any time by choosing “Decline” in Cookie settings, or by using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and it does not affect anything we did before.

To use any of these rights, email dealcompassindia@gmail.com from the address you used when you contacted us, and say what you want. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act, so that we do not give your data to someone else. We do not charge for this. We will confirm that we have your request within 7 days and will aim to complete it within 30 days. Because we do not hold accounts, we may not be able to find data that is only in analytics unless you can tell us roughly when you visited.

9. Complaints

If you are not happy with how we handle your data, write to dealcompassindia@gmail.com with the subject “Privacy complaint”. We will reply within 7 days and will aim to resolve the matter within 30 days. If we have not resolved it, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India once the Board’s complaint process is in force.

10. Children

This website is for adults. It is not aimed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Some of our guides cover baby and kids products, and they are written for parents and guardians to read. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please email us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We protect the site with an HTTPS connection, access controls, regular software updates and limits on who can see messages sent to us. No online service is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

12. Cookies

We use a cookie to remember your choice, and analytics cookies only if you accept. See our cookie policy for the list.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change to how we use your data, we will say so on this page.
